"As Wikipedia so eloquently puts it, sustainability is the capacity to endure. We are most familiar with the term in referring to the creation of positive change -- both social and environmental -- that is self-supporting and reaches far into the future. For me, this capacity to endure is most important with respect to the change agents. Those who dedicate their lives to creating positive and sustainable impact face the very real threat of burnout. In order for any of us to serve this planet and its inhabitants in a sustainable way, we must take the time to nurture and sustain ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually. Whether it be meditating on a mountain top, dancing about to Michael Jackson or enjoying a home-cooked meal with friends and family, such practices are essential for positive change to endure."
