Where:  The Fuqua School of Business

Open To: All Duke students, faculty & staff, Triangle-area professionals, and students at other universities.

Conference Fee: The conference is free to all students, faculty and staff. Attendees from non-academic institutions are required to pay a $25 conference fee. This fee will be waived for all SBSI sponsors and speakers.

Details: How can business step up to the challenge of fostering a sustainable world? How can business, governement and citizens collaborate to this end? Join us as we explore these questions and hear from practitioners on the front lines of creating environmental and social change. This year’s SBSI conference will examine topics like financial inclusion, social enterprise marketing, socially-responsible investing, renewable energy, design innovation and climate change consulting. SBSI will challenge and enable you to explore the role that social responsibility and sustainability can play in your professional endeavors, regardless of your industry sector or function, in hopes that you can discover the most effective way for you to make a difference.

 

Agenda:  The Conference Sessions are organized into four tracks: Strategy, Marketing, Finance, and Entrepreneurship, along with a special look at Measuring the Impact of Social Enterprise. Whether you are pursuing a for-profit, non-profit, or hybrid career, these topics are sure to be of interest and add value to your current or future position.

Background: The Duke Conference on Sustainable Business and Social Impact (SBSI) is a day-long event at the Fuqua School of Business that aims to educate and inspire students and Triangle-area professionals on rapidly evolving opportunities to create positive and sustainable change. The conference will bring together speakers from public, private and social sectors to discuss the issues most relevant to creating environmental and social impact.  Attendees will have the opportunity to explore topics through a mix of keynote addresses, thought-provoking panels and networking sessions.  Panel sessions will explore a variety of topics and industries but will be organized into four tracks, including Marketing, Finance, Strategy and Entrepreneurship.
