Now that Halloween is behind us, it’s time to get ready for Fuqua 2009 Green Week which starts tomorrow, November 2nd! Please check out the summary of events below and click on the subject you are interested in to get more information. Also, make sure you buy your "So Fresh 'N' So Green" Green Week t-shirt to support environmental sustainability! For every t-shirt that is sold, $1 will go towards planting a tree!

Also, for those who ordered a Net Impact Club sweatshirt, they will be available for you to collect as of next week (11/9-11/12). More details will follow in next week's newsletter. Sweatshirt design can be viewed here.


The Net Impact Conference on November 13th-14th is less than two weeks away! If you plan to attend the Net Impact Conference at Cornell, be sure to attend the conference prep session held this Tuesday, November 3rd, from 5-6pm in Dansby classroom. Attendees of last year’s conference will be on hand to answer any questions you have and provide tips for how to get the most out of the conference.

Details:  Green Week is a week-long exposition of global environmental sustainability, featuring cutting-edge innovations from leading companies. This event led by the Net Impact Club will draw leaders in renewable energy, clean technology, sustainable mobility and consumer goods and services. Along with large-scale public displays, panel discussions, and networking events, we will offer field tours in local sustainability initiatives to all participants.

*UPDATED* Career Workshop - FY Job Search Teams for Social Sector Careers (Resources/Time Line)

When: Every Tuesday, 5:00-6:00pm

Here are a couple things to keep in mind to help you keep your search on track:

  1. All the front-end items (Learning, Networking, Interview Prep) is happening now regardless of whether you are looking on- or off-campus. Concentrate on these now.
  2. The off-campus search is longer. It will be getting busy just as the on-campus search is dying down. Be patient and proactive.

Microfinance Course - UC Berkeley Simulcast

When:  Monday evenings (11/2 - 12/7), 7:00-9:00 pm

Where:  Mosler Classroom

UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business is simulcasting their wildly popular Microfinance Speaker Series course, and Duke will have access to the program starting next week. Classes are from 7-9 pm on Monday evenings, starting 11/2 and ending 12/7, and will be simulcast to Mosler Classroom at the Fuqua School of Business with opportunities to Skype into the live course and ask questions. Each class session will have 2-4 pre-reading articles, and we will send links to the readings each week. This is an incredible opportunity to learn about Microfinance from some of the top thought leaders in the field, through the lens of business.

Help Net Impact Club Raise $

Help the Net Impact Club with some easy fundraising.  Just take a few minutes to fill out a survey!


The study, which is for 2nd year MBA students only, takes 10-20 minutes and for every person in the Net Impact club that participates, Fuqua PHD Research will donate $8-15 to our club (based on profit earned during the game). If we can get 25 people in our club to participate, we can earn about $300 for the Net Impact Club!

If you have waited until the last minute to register for the 2009 Net Impact Conference, you're in luck. We just secured additional capacity to accommodate interest. For those of you already registered, we encourage you to book your accommodations and travel arrangements as soon as possible.

Get the most out of the 2009 Net Impact Conference

Net Impact will be leading a special prep session for those who are attending the 2009 Net Impact Conference. The session will provide an overview of the conference and logistics, advice on designing your schedule and choosing which sessions to attend, as well as an opportunity for Q&A. More than 125 sessions are being offered over two days, so it is critical that attendees develop a strategy for attending breakouts and networking at the conference ahead of time.
