Finance & Fundraising

Our Finance & Fundraising role is tasked with furthering corporate partnership (see sponsors section) and  providing a beneficial and reciprocal relationship for both club members and companies. The purpose will be to enhance club activities as well as provide a chance for potential recruiters to be involved in membership development opportunities.

Our goals and objectives are to:

  • Enhance experience for corporate partners
  • Create best practices to better promote Stache Bash and continually fundraise for the CASE Summer Internship Fund through various events

Events To Support The CASE Summer Internship Program

The CASE Summer Internship Program enables first year Duke MBA-Daytime students to learn about the rewards and challenges of social sector management without making a significant financial sacrifice. In addition, the program enables organizations that otherwise could not afford to hire MBA student interns to benefit from students’ expertise in areas such as finance, management consulting, strategic planning and marketing.

A list of past summer internships here.

2010 CASE Summer Internship Fund (SIF)

The CASE SIF is a fund that enables students to learn about the rewards and challenges of social sector management during their summer internship without making a significant financial sacrifice. In addition, the program enables organizations that otherwise could not afford to hire MBA student interns to benefit from students’ expertise in areas such as finance, management consulting, strategic planning and marketing. In 2009, the CASE SIF enabled 22 students to receive summer funding to explore careers in the social sector! (Thank you to everyone who was involved in fundraising, and congratulations to everyone who engaged in internships in the social sector!)

Looking Forward

We want to continue to position SIF as a differentiating element for MBA students seeking careers in the social sector; therefore, our plan is to grow the fund considerably over the next few years through a larger and wider student led fundraising effort. We need your help on the CASE SIF Taskforce to ensure that we have increased funds in 2010!

During the coming months, the CASE SIF Taskforce will assist in the planning and implementation of annual events consisting of Stache Bash, Cap & Gown Rentals, and Give a Day Campaign; historically, these events have represented the bulk of the funds raised. However, this year we want to go further. Plans are underway for two new events:

1) an all you can eat sweets extravaganza (think bake sale done Fuqua style), &

2) a finals pizza and sandwich study break.

How You Can Play a Leadership Role

We would also like to ask that all Net Impact Members who are able and interested join the CASE SIF Taskforce.  Please complete the following Google Document if you are interested:

Next Steps

The CASE SIF Taskforce will be led by Net Impact Finance cabinet members Paige Elisha and Alfonso Puente. During the coming weeks, we will reach out to provide more information about fundraising in Fall 2. Please reach out to either Paige (paige.elisha@fuqua.duke.edu) or Alfonso (alfonso.puente@fuqua.duke.edu) if you have any questions or fundraising suggestions.

Got baking skillz?! Help the CASE Summer Internship Fund (SIF)

The CASE SIF needs your baking talent! Sign up to bake/prepare a dessert for a sweet fundraiser on the first Fuqua Friday of the spring 1 term. All desserts will be featured at Fuqua Friday for your peers to pick the winner based on overall tasty goodness!! Here are a few great reasons to be a baker:

  1. Support SIF – 100% of profits from ticket sales for the event will go to the CASE SIF.
  2. Show off your baking talent – event participants will vote for their favorite desserts and we will have great prizes for bakers!

The CASE SIF supplements pay for summer internships in the social sector. It allows MBAs to follow their hearts to the social sector without having to go without pay. In addition, the program enables organizations that otherwise could not afford to hire MBA student interns to benefit from students’ expertise. Thank you for helping to make the CASE SIF possible!

I am in! What do I do?

  1. Before January 4, follow this link to sign up for a dessert to bake: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AnHOsCFB9HzydHRacTdyYm1LUGJkc0VHbG9raUlzZXc&hl=en
  2. Look out for an email early in the new year confirming event logistics
  3. Bake your specialty*
  4. Bring your dessert to Fuqua on Friday January 22nd
  5. Join us for the event to enjoy your treats as well as desserts baked by others!

*Because 100% of profits will go to the CASE SIF, bakers are responsible for all baking costs. Thank you for supporting the CASE SIF!
